Calm, Clarity, Confidence
Therapy for Anxiety in San Francisco Bay Area & throughout California
You’re tired of feeling overwhelmed and anxious
It’s like you can never
be enough or do enough.
It’s one thing to be conscientious, it’s another thing to strive for perfection, especially when it comes to pleasing other people, like your boss, your friends, your partner, your parents…
Eventually, you reach a point where you realize pleasing everyone is not possible.
But where do you go from there?
“Perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor, the enemy of the people.”
~~~Annie Lamont, Bird by Bird
Here’s what we’ll do together
Therapy can help you understand where you end and other people begin
Anxiety emerges for different unconscious reasons. It can come from a need for control. Anxiety can come from shame. It can also be a learned response to life.
If when we were little, our caregivers viewed our sensitivity as a deficit, said to us “You’re so sensitive!” “Be tough!” “Stop crying!”
They did not recognize our sensitivity as a gift and a strength. They responded to our sensitivity with their own anxiety. Thus Highly Sensitive People may respond to their own sensitive nature with anxiety.
HSPs automatically track a lot more in their environment and therefore, experience the world at a higher level of intensity. They may track nonverbal messages like body language and facial expressions, the emotions of others, and changes in temperature, light, and sound all at once. This can lead to feeling distracted, frustrated, and anxious.
Being highly sensitive does not have to be a burden nor is it a weakness. You can learn how to recognize and accept your sensitivity. When you do this, you can care better for yourself.
At the end of the day, I want you to know:
Your sensitivity is an invitation to live more consciously, to elevate your quality of life.
What we’ll work on:
Imagine a life where…
You’re connected to yourself.
Your past no longer keeps you stuck.
Your relationships feel harmonious and reciprocal.
Work doesn’t feel overwhelming.
You feel more free.
